Biddenden Squash Club - policies

Dear [[firstname]],

We are an inclusive squash club for families, young people and adults alike, of all ages, gender and ability. This applies both on and off the court. The club has significantly grown its membership over the last year. In so doing, we are taking the step to update and create policies and procedures to reflect our membership. This will cover areas such as welfare (including anti-bullying and safeguarding); data/information and complaints.

This year we will be asking everyone to read and agree to the new policies as part of the membership renewal/new joiner process this year - this will be starting next month.

In the interim, can we remind everyone that the club will not tolerate bullying/harassment of any kind. If someone feels uncomfortable, intimidated or offended - then this is a key sign of bullying.

Examples of bullying can be:
* Emotional - being unfriendly, excluding people, rumour spreading
* Physical - pushing, kicking
* Sexual - unwanted contact or sexually motivated comments
* Racial/Homophobic motivated abuse (verbal and physical)

What to do if you are concerned and would like to raise an issue
1. Juniors (participating in a structured training programme) - Please raise it with your Coach.  Or,
2. Raise the issue with either of Mark Butterworth, David Robson or Jo Davies. Or,
3. Alternatively, please raise it with a member of the Committee or someone you trust who can raise it to them.

If the issue is more urgent, please raise with Social Services (03000 41 91 91), Police (999) or Health Service; then advise a committee member as soon as possible.

Our Commitment
* The Club will seek to amend its rules to ensure that Welfare of members is at the core of its values
* The Club will not tolerate bullying or harassment
* Raising an issue will NOT impact you as an individual in any way
* All issues raised will be kept confidential and only on a "need to know" basis
* We will only act as and when appropriate, and in agreement with you (unless there is an emergency)

Thank you for your understanding; we will email all members shortly about renewals. The Committee.
